Are You Promoting Your Local Business Enough?

When I’m chatting about marketing with other local business owners, one of the subjects that repeatedly comes up is just how much business promotion is enough. There is usually a wide range of opinions, and most of us likely could be doing more.

We tend to under-promote our businesses because, no matter what industry we’re working in, that business is a personal extension of ourselves and many of us were taught growing up that preaching our own value was egotistical and wrong. It was great if others recognized and talked about our skills or achievements, but running around tooting our own horn was frowned upon. (more…)

A Direct Mail Success Story

A new marketing campaign doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive in order to be effective. Sometimes, all it takes to get a business noticed by potential local customers is a targeted direct mail campaign.

Recently, Enchanted Island Amusement Park in Phoenix, AZ came to Gannett Local looking for a way to get the word out to groups in the area that the park was available for corporate picnics. With unique features like amusement park rides, a catered barbeque menu with several different food choices, and options such as face painting and a rock climbing wall all in a facility that could accommodate up to 10,000 people, Enchanted Island really needed a noticeable solution to communicate all they have to offer to the corporate Human Resources personnel in charge of planning such events.
