Christmas is right around the corner and there is a large need for volunteers and donations. One of the most popular and recognizable donation centers is the Red Kettle Campaign created by the Salvation Army. The Red Kettle Campaign first began in San Francisco in 1891, and 120 years later continues to help millions of people who turn to the Salvation Army for support around Christmas. There are Salvation Army offices in cities around the country.

We can usually hear the bell ringing as we walk up to our local super market or mall, but how often do you stop and make a donation? The volunteers who work these Red Kettle locations always bring cheer by wishing everyone “Happy Holidays” as they walk by. I am guilty of just smiling and waving as I pass, but this year will be different and I am asking you to help. The Salvation Army is hoping to raise $3,000,000 this year. If we all make a small donation of $1.00 the next time visiting the mall or super market we can help bring joy to a family who is less fortunate. Keep in mind that you can donate any amount you want whether it is just a dollar or the spare change in your pocket. You can even make a donation using your debit or credit card using Square in San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, and New York. Remember, your donation will help feed hungry families and provide presents for needy children this Christmas.

So when you hear that bell ringing, remember Tis the Season!
