Have you gotten your local business set up with accounts on Facebook and Twitter, but you feel overwhelmed by it all? Do you wonder what your competitors are doing from a social media perspective? And have you ever wondered just how many Foursquare users are out there in your area? A new social media management tool made especially for local businesses is aiming to help you out with all of that in one concise application.
Eyes and Feet is a new application, currently in private Beta, that helps local businesses understand and use social media more effectively by showing how competitors and customers are using it. The service integrates Google Maps, Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, and Groupon to let local businesses get a visual representation of the businesses and customers who are using social media surrounding them.
For example, If you were looking at the Eyes and Feet application from the perspective of the San Francisco business in the image below, you would see that in your surrounding area there are 327 businesses with Facebook fan pages, 245 businesses with Twitter accounts, 69 current Groupon deals, and 647 active Foursquare participants that you could be offering specials to.
Additionally, Eyes and Feet gives you a SNORT (Social Networking and Other Relevant Tools) score which helps you gauge your social media participation against other local businesses in your city.
As Lakshmanan (Lux) Narayan, Eyes and Feet CEO & Founder says, “Everyone needs that little nudge! A lot of local businesses are waiting and watching before they jump into leveraging social media for their business. It’s like when you and I first used Facebook. Before gathering the courage to post our first update, we first took some time to observe how our friends use the medium, and to figure what works and what doesn’t. We’re simply trying to provide the benefits of this peer based learning experience for a business.”
He adds, “Besides covering geo-specific social media activity of businesses, we also help a local business take its first steps with using social media. Wizards, hyperlocal news feeds, posting tools – we have them all, and some more”
